Hickory Wind – theatre benefit performance
Hickory Wind, a Northern California 5 piece band is available for bookings. Their country folk rooted sound draws from bluegrass, rock-a-billy, folk, classic country standards, with a touch of blues and rock … Americana. In addition to appealing to traditional country style music fans, this fun loving energetic sound also appeals to those not necessarily attracted to country. That being said, the “Hickory Wind” sound would be familiar to anyone who knows the music of Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band, the Byrds, and Graham Parsons.
Centered around the lovely and distinctive voice of Cheryll Kent, Hickory Wind is known for its tight vocals and tasty instrumental leads. The hundreds of song in their repertoire draw from many sources including Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Rodney Crowell, Susie Bogas and as well as their original material. Typically a four or five piece band, they also perform as a duo or trio with Cheryll Kent on rhythm guitar and lead vocals, Fred Kent on bass and vocals, (the duo), Dan Partain on banjo, lead guitar and vocals and Jamie Faw on drums and vocal

This recording features 11 original songs: most written by Fred & Cheryll Kent and two by a cherished musician friend and guest artists.
The title song, Following a Dream, has also been used as a theme song for the annual historic “Highway 50 Wagon Train“ event.

“Behind My Dreams“
Hickory Wind released Behind My Dreams in December, 2012. This was our first project as a group, but is the fifth recording project featuring Cheryll Kent.

This song, inspired by the loss of a person in a close relationship, touches the soul deeply in Cheryll’s distinctive folk style.
Fred Kent wrote the song during a period of dealing with all) the aspects of grief and sorrow and Cheryll sings from the heart, masterfully backed up with the expert musicianship of Hickory Wind with Manuel Luz on keys, and Jenny Rutherford on violin.
